P90X Results – Isn’t Looking Good, Enough?
Are you borderline obese?Got a few pounds to lose? Are you struggling with finding the right inspiration to get yourself off the couch and into the gym?
What motivational force will actually drive you to the point of being willing to change your ways and start living a healthier lifestyle?
What type of P90X resutls are you hoping to achieve? Are your looks more important to you than your health? In today’s society, quite a few people elevate looks to the top of the heap.I admit that it’s certainly nice to look good and know it.
The problem arises when people mistakenly believe that by just looking good their lives will have more meaning and their lives will somehow be better. Maybe a better body is ok as a short term motivator, but it’s just not enough to sustain the drive you will need to get back into shape.
If all you can think about it how you look to others, then other people’s opinions are overly important to you. This often results in poor health choices like weight loss thru fad diets, diet pills, starving to lose a few pounds for swimsuit season or a wedding.
When we make the numbers on the scale the be all end all, then we actually embrace the superficial “look at me world.”
What would happen if my primary motivation was to be better or stronger? I know that if I ride my bike today for 1/2 hour and lift weights doing a p90x workout for 45 minutes that my body and my mind benefit immediately from that, even though my appearance hasn’t changed.
By choosing to eat healthy, whole foods today, my body’s health improves immediately. By combining the two, consistent exercise and whole foods I know that the area inside my temporal lobe releases chemicals into my system that make me feel happy and confident.
In addition, regular exercise and a healthy diet will aid my body’s inate ability to fight disease and injuries.
I know what I’m fighting for.I have a beautiful wife whom I’ve been with 26 years and 5 incredible children.I want to be there for them a good long time. I don’t want to miss out on a thing.
I want to live a healthier, wiser, happier life. I want to be fit. I want to feel comfortable in my skin.Hey, I do want to look better in my clothes, but that’s a side benefit, not my primary motivation or focus.
If you constantly just focus on looking good you will only be disappointed.Simply put, the principle desire to improve one’s health or fitness for it’s own sake will bring you plenty of joyful returns on the efforts you’ve invested on your fitness journey.
