His advice is … His advice is absolutely true, but that being said it doesn’t hurt to do abdominal workouts also as increased abdominal muscle SIZE tends to help them show more. Also, many might be surprised to find that full body workouts that involve your core – like squats and deadlifts – not only burn significant calories but also strengthen your abs emmensely: arguable more than crunches, leg lifts, and other abdominal isolation exercizes.
Gaining muscle does … Gaining muscle does not substitute fat. To see your abdominal muscles you have to reduce your body fat percentage significantly. In males fat collects around the abdomen first and is typically the last fat reserve to leave. It is extremely difficult to get a full six pack, so don’t feel bad if you don’t have one. Just focus on being healthy, gaining muscle and losing fat.
he is right, … he is right, getting great abs is a function of low body fat and cardio…when I used to try to get ripped for bodybuilding, I really didn’t do any ab work until I brought my bodyfat below 10%, then the abs became visible…you can do set after set of crunches, etc, which do strengthen the abs, but until you bring body fat levels to low levels (usually 10% and below for males, & 12% for females) you won’t see your abs due to the fat layer hiding them.
yeah I have to … yeah I have to disagree here too. I’ve lost 30 pounds dieting and still have a belly. I was 200 and now im 175 all I did was cardio. Im pretty sure gaining muscle substitutes the fat. am I right?
but cardio makes my … but cardio makes my arm smaller and definitely makes me weaker. so should i do lots of running? coz i am the kind that get fat overnight and can lose weight in a day
so please explain … so please explain why I can see a 4 pack but no matter how much extra cardio I do I cant get the saggy fat and skin to tighten around my 2 lower abs? This is so frustrating it makes me sick! I can feel those abs and if I pull back that area of looseness I can can see the abs coming out. Why on Earth cant I get these abs to show. AHHH!!!
this is to all of … this is to all of the ignorant people out here. abdominals will be seen as one lowers there own bf. DOING high reps every day does not make your stomach “cut”. The only factor that determines muscular definition is the absense of bodyfat, which is achieved best by doing cardio(running etc, and dieting). situps crunches will strengthen the abs and may help develop the stomach, but to see them you have to quit eating mcdonalds and tweenkies every day.
I agree with these … I agree with these two guys, abs are muscles that need to be worked out so that it can repair and grow, running does nothing for that…sorry but its true
I agree, I have … I agree, I have done exercises for abs every day for a week now and my abs start to become more visible. then again my body hadn’t that much fat in the beginning and I’m eating healthy.
i have to disagree … i have to disagree on this one …doing sit ups strenghthen the abdominals but its also a form of exercise there for losing fat there for making the abdominals visable…….no comments on my spelling
I belive the cardio … I belive the cardio should be increased in your workout and you really need to diet… its not as hard as it seem just lower your intake of foods. But keep esentials!
I can see a six … I can see a six pack when i flex but, without my belly is covered by fat. Its really hard to lose this fat on my stomach, how much cardio per day should i do?
Crunches will strengthen the abs, but you won’t necessarily see them if they’re covered by a layer of fat.
Lose the body fat above the abs to reveal your six pack. Does this mean that abs are pointless? No. It simply means that you don’t need to do thousands of crunches daily to get ‘ripped.’ Just reduce your body fat by exercising and dieting consistently and weight train twice a week.
crunches strengthen … crunches strengthen your abs but they won’t become visible until you cut the fat from your stomach.if you already have a skinny stomach, you don’t need to do cardio, just strengthen your abs
No, i think hes … No, i think hes saying that ab work out will help to define the abs muscle or make them bigger, however cardio will SHOW them. So working them will only progress the ab, not make it visible. Cardio will do this to lose body fat. Correct me if im wrong
